Rachael Veronica Luis was born on March 21, 2010, in Miami, Florida, at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Rachael started participating in sports at the age of 3 at the Miami Shores Recreation Center, where she engaged in gymnastics, basketball, soccer, softball, and cheer. At 7 years old, she began playing volleyball for the NMB Volleyball Program, and her passion for the sport grew. After three years, she advanced to a higher division within the same club. In 2020, Rachael ventured into basketball, joining the Miami Suns program under Coach Slim. However, her affection for basketball didn’t match that of volleyball. During the same year, she played both volleyball and basketball full time.
In 2022, Rachael started middle school at Westminster Academy, playing varsity volleyball and basketball, even though she was only in 7th grade. She also joined the 305 Volleyball Club, playing with the 14U National Team. In the summer of 2022, she began playing travel basketball with the Miami Suns under Coach Shenequah. This season proved to be significant as Rachael showcased her talents, impressing many and kindling her love for basketball. Her older brother Rj remarked, «Rachael is the athlete in the family.»
She concluded her volleyball season by participating in the National Tournament in Chicago, leaving a lasting impression on the court for the upcoming basketball season.
For her 8th grade year, she transferred to Miami Country Day to play volleyball and basketball for the high school varsity team. Although her volleyball season didn’t yield the expected results, her basketball season kicked off in November.
