Reggie (RJ) Jason Luis Jr.

Rj Luis Jr is an American Basketball player. Born on November 27, 2002 (19)  in Miami, Florida (Mount Sinai Hospital)

Reggie’s parent’s descendants are from Ecuador and the Dominican Republic, Reggie Luis Charles and Maria Luis ( they were both given athletic scholarships to come to the United States). Also has two little sisters Racheal (12) and Rylee Luis (5). Rachael is also an athlete playing both basketball and volleyball. Although is Rylee is still young she’s playing soccer and basketball.

Started playing basketball when he was 5 years old, over at a community center in Miami shores. That wasn’t the only sport he played, he was very athletic and talented, he participated in baseball, football, soccer, karate, and tennis. Soccer being one of his favorite sports at the time going from one to another, basketball that is. He was a dual athlete playing both soccer and basketball until the 7th grade until he made his decision to focus and prioritize basketball.

He’s been playing ever since, and first received Divison 1 basketball interest in his junior year. RJ has always performed at high levels in all the events he participated; such as tournaments and showcases. He received his first offer D1 from Northeastern on September 8, 2020 during the summer of his junior year. Going into his junior year he was making a little noise receiving more D1 interest but none of them offered. During his senior year he had an outstanding senior year averaging 24 ppg and 10 reb, he made the All-Dade Basketball First Team and the Class 7A All State Team. But still didn’t receive recognition he deserved. He later went to play with SOH (UA) during the summer of 2021, an under armor circuit team where he displayed his skill set, versatility, and potential as a future prospect. This is where he got way more attention and interest from Divison one (D1) schools. He would then receive his second Divison 1 (D1) offer from Lamar Univeristy on August 4, 2021. Now RJ has a total of two Division 1 (D1) offers from Northeastern and Lamar University by the end of his high school career. But that wasn’t enough he wasn’t satisfied, so he decide with the help of his family to take a chance and do a year of post grade basketball because he believed in his capabilities and most importantly himself.

RJ Luis enrolled in Mt. Zion Prep in Baltimore, MD, on September 27, 2021, here he would face adversity and challenges, but this was all for the best because he was able to develop and take his game to the next level. During the first two weeks of school RJ picked up two new offers during practice, St. Bonaventure Univeristy and Old Dominion University two very good schools. This was only start of what was to come. RJ kept performing and showing out in front of many high and mid major programs, this would result in receiving ten divison one (D1) offers in a span of 6 months. St. Bonaventure, Old Dominion, Austin Peay, Quinnipiac, Marist, UMASS, Rutgers, VCU, Temple, and JMU Univeristy.
